Independent game studio, Seattle
DigitalDNA Games
We are the Seattle studio behind CastleMiner Z, the best selling indie game on Xbox 360. Sixteen games and five million copies sold since 2009. Right now we are rebuilding CastleMiner Z in Unreal Engine 5.
CastleMiner Z: Resurrection
A full remake of the original CastleMiner Z in Unreal Engine 5. Two million people played the original on Xbox 360, and plenty of them never stopped asking for this. We are keeping what worked and rebuilding the rest from scratch.
-
Rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5
The same block based building and crafting the original was known for, under modern lighting, physics and world streaming.
-
Endless procedural worlds
The world generates as you travel, and the farther you get from spawn the nastier it gets. No two runs go the same way.
-
Multiplayer survival and co-op
Play with friends, build a base together, or turn on PvP and fight over it.
-
Survival horror, the way we started it
Night still belongs to the zombies and the dragons. Get your walls up before the sun goes down.
CastleMiner Z
The original, still on Steam and still selling more than a decade later.
CastleMiner Z came out in 2011 and went on to become the best selling indie game on Xbox 360, with over two million players. Endless worlds, crafting, and monsters showing up at the worst possible moment. Everything in Resurrection started here.
Independent since 2009
DigitalDNA Games is a small independent studio in Seattle. We have been at it since 2009, mostly making the kind of open ended survival games we want to play ourselves. CastleMiner Z was the big one. It became the best selling indie game on Xbox 360 and passed two million players. Across everything we have shipped, sales are north of five million copies.
These days the whole team is on CastleMiner Z: Resurrection. Everyone here has been shipping games since the 1990s, at places like Valve, Microsoft, EA and PopCap, and this is the game we have wanted to make for a long time.
We would rather make one game people play for ten years than ten games nobody remembers.
Small team, long resumes
There are only a few of us, and we have all been making games since the 1990s, between AAA studios and our own projects.
Sixteen years of shipping games
We have put out a lot of games since 2009. The early ones were Xbox Live Indie Games, the later ones full multiplayer titles on Steam and Xbox One. Here is some of what came before Resurrection.
